The PS5 console is getting an increase in supply this year, Sony says. Those are words that any prospective consumer interested in buying one should be happy to read. After more than 24 months of it being quite challenging to purchase one, that should be changing. In an official PlayStation Blog post, Sony says that it should now be a whole lot easier finding a PS5 at local retailers.

This is a global increase in product availability too. So if you’re in the US, you just might be able to walk into a Best Buy soon and find a PS5 on the shelf. Sony Interactive Entertainment’s VP of brand, hardware, and peripherals Isabelle Tomantis states “If you’re looking to purchase a PS5 console, you should now have a much easier time finding one at retailers globally.”

In addition to finding one at local retailers, it appears as if Sony is going to increase the PS5 supply for the PlayStation Direct website as well. Though only for consumers in the US, UK, France, Germany, Netherlands, Belgium, and Luxembourg.

A PS5 supply increase is accompanied by a new marketing campaign

Sony is keen on making sure people are aware that PS5 consoles will be easier to track down this year. In a new ad that it’s posted to its official PlayStation YouTube channel, titled ‘Live From PS5,’ newscasters from the ‘Social News Collective’ network report on a series of strange events unfolding around the globe.

The events in question are references to a number of different games available (or soon to be available) on the PS5, including God Of War Ragnarok, Final Fantasy XVI, Ratchet & Clank: A Rift Apart, and more. There’s even a brief reference to Destiny 2. Eagle-eyed fans may also notice clips from some of their favorite PlayStation-exclusive titles over the last few years. Ghost of Tsushima, Stray, Gran Turismo 7 all have featured clips.

Beyond the new YouTube ad, real-world marketing seems to be a part of this new push. A giant leviathan axe from God Of War Ragnarok has popped up in London. This may also be the first of many appearances of these kinds of props.

The takeaway, is that you should have much less trouble getting a PS5 if you still haven’t gotten one.
