The Google Home app is soon to have a massive overhaul, and we’re all wondering just what it’s going to look like. If you’re curious, then you should be happy to know that the Google Home Preview Program is going to be launching soon, and you can sign up for it now.

We knew about this overhaul and the Preview Program for a while now. We got news of it back in October. Google said that it’s going to let people get an early look at what it’s doing with the Google Home app. So, this is almost like an open house for the Google Home app. If you are excited about this, then you should be able to sign up for the program.

How to sign up for the Google Home Preview Program

The first thing you want to do is make sure that your Google Home app is fully updated. Find the Google Home app on the Google Play store, or find it through the App Info page.

To get to the app info page, tap and hold on the Google Home app on your home screen, and when the little popup when it comes up, hit the App Info button ( the “!” Inside the circle). At that point, scroll to the bottom and tap on the App Details button.

Look to see if there is an Update button next to the open button. If you don’t see it, then you might be on the latest version of Google Home.

At that point, go inside the Google Home app and go to the Settings. There, you should see a Public Preview button under the General section.

There, you can request an invitation to the program. If the company does accept your request, then you’ll be able to proceed. This process is similar to joining the Android beta program. Once you tap the Join Public Preview button, the app will immediately begin updating to the preview.

So, what’s coming with this big overhaul?

Google is going to unveil several new features to Google Home. For starters we have Favorites. This will give you quick access to your favorite devices in Actions. This will prioritize devices so you see them right when you launch the app.

Spaces will let you quickly access groups of similar devices. The Devices feature will help you find all of your devices and easily check their statuses.

There’s going to be a refreshed camera and timeline view that will include a vertical video history timeline, event views, and quick actions. There will be a Mini media player that will help you better control your music in the app.

You’ll be able to try out these and other features using the Google Home Preview Program, so, if you’re excited about this, you can sign up today.
